Outage helpInternet down? Start here
Six quick checks to find out whether it's you, your equipment or the provider.
- One device or everything? If one device is offline, restart it and rejoin WiFi.
- Look at the equipment lights. Red, orange or flashing usually means no signal coming in.
- Check for an outage in your provider's app or website (below). Downdetector shows whether others are reporting problems.
- Restart in order: modem or fiber box first, then the router. See the restart guide.
- Plug a laptop into the router. If wired works and WiFi doesn't, it's a WiFi issue. See better home WiFi.
- Check power and cables. Wind, construction and power shutoffs are common local causes. See power shutoffs.
Restart, don't reset
The pinhole reset button wipes your settings and WiFi password. Unplugging is what you want.
